West Lynde (west-northwest) is a neighbourhood of Whitby, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 3,229 living in private households. 41.1% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 15.8%. 57.5% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 1.6% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 31.5% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $166,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 3.2% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.20 km², giving a population density of 2,694 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
