West Lynde (north-northwest 2) is a neighbourhood of Whitby, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 2,763 living in private households. 44.2% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 17.4%. 55.1% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.7% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 32.6% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $118,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 21.3% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 0.62 km², giving a population density of 4,449 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
