West Lynde (north-northeast) is a neighbourhood of Whitby, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 4,212 living in private households. 56.1% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 20.4%. 43.0% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.7% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 37.1% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $151,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 8.5% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.45 km², giving a population density of 2,901 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
