West Lynde (east-northeast 2) is a neighbourhood of Whitby, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 4,023 living in private households. 28.5% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 8.0%. 71.2% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.2% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 28.3% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $126,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 6.7% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.70 km², giving a population density of 2,373 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
