Samac (west-southwest) is a neighbourhood of Oshawa, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 3,178 living in private households. 45.5% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 20.2%. 52.5% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 2.2% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 27.9% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $74,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 45.6% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 5.29 km², giving a population density of 601 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
