New Tecumseth (northwest 1) is a neighbourhood of New Tecumseth, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 8,536 living in private households. 17.1% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was Black at 4.4%. 80.6% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 2.3% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 17.4% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $90,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 31.1% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 6.52 km², giving a population density of 1,309 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
