McLaughlin (north-northwest) is a neighbourhood of Oshawa, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 2,882 living in private households. 19.7% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 9.3%. 75.9% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 4.4% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 19.6% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $86,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 26.1% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.34 km², giving a population density of 2,150 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
