Elgin Mills (west-southwest) is a neighbourhood of Richmond Hill, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 7,012 living in private households. 56.7% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 26.7%. 43.0% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.3% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 57.2% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $137,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 8.6% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 2.33 km², giving a population density of 3,009 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
