Brownsville is a neighbourhood of Clarington, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 4,003 living in private households. 7.9% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was Black at 1.6%. 89.0% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 3.0% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 11.2% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $111,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 13.5% of households rented rather than owned.
