York is a neighbourhood of Toronto, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 2,078 living in private households. 50.5% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was Black at 11.8%. 48.8% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.9% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 43.3% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $54,800 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 64.5% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 0.17 km², giving a population density of 12,362 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
