St. James Town (west-southwest) is a neighbourhood of Toronto, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 11,120 living in private households. 81.5% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 25.1%. 17.6% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.8% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 59.3% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $50,400 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 98.0% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 0.14 km², giving a population density of 77,330 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
