Islington (southwest) is a neighbourhood of Toronto, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 7,105 living in private households. 39.5% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was South Asian at 8.5%. 59.8% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.8% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 43.7% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $99,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 24.6% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 1.29 km², giving a population density of 5,516 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
