German Mills (north-northwest) is a neighbourhood of Markham, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 4,734 living in private households. 65.6% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 41.5%. 34.4% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 0.0% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 56.1% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $150,000 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 3.5% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 3.17 km², giving a population density of 1,495 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
