Downtown Yonge is a neighbourhood of Toronto, in the Greater Toronto Area. At the 2021 Census of Canada it had a population of 6,217 living in private households. 48.5% of residents identified as members of a racialized (visible minority) group, against 55.2% across the Greater Toronto Area as a whole; the largest single group was Chinese at 14.7%. 49.6% were Caucasian (not a visible minority, excluding Indigenous identity), and 1.8% reported Indigenous identity. Immigrants made up 35.1% of the population, compared with 45.1% citywide. Median household income before tax was $57,200 in 2020, compared with $199,000 for the Greater Toronto Area. 84.1% of households rented rather than owned. The neighbourhood covers 0.19 km², giving a population density of 32,263 people per square kilometre (the Greater Toronto Area averages about 920).
